We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our Merchant science team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for building machine learning models and data science capabilities that drive growth of thousands of merchants across the entire Latam. This includes developing prediction and optimization models that recommend merchants how to best allocate their marketing (promo+ads) and other investments; advancing automated bidding systems for merchants’ ads; building segmentation models – and more. As a key player in our merchant growth efforts, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on both the merchants’ bottom line and Rappi user experience, driving user growth and retention, and ultimately helping boost Rappi’s business performance. As part of Rappi, you will be responsible for:
- Design, develop and optimize scalable machine learning solutions and algorithms to optimize merchants’ investments and growth
- Own the entire modeling lifecycle, from ideation and design to development and implementation, ensuring quality in production
- Work with a practical, goal-oriented approach: keeping the impact and timelines front and center, and balancing the business context with technical complexity of projects
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists, and product managers to develop, test, and continuously iterate models in a fast-paced environment
- Work closely with the data infrastructure team to ensure seamless integration of machine learning models with our existing systems and data pipelines
- Continuously monitor and analyze models’ performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing necessary changes
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our data science and modeling capabilities remain competitive and cutting-edge
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the team’s overall expertise in machine learning and data science
Good and now, what are the requirements for me to be part of this neon universe?
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or quantitative field (PhD is a plus)
- 4+ years (2+ with a PhD) of proven experience in machine learning engineering or similar role, with demonstrable ability to bring impact to business objectives
- Proficiency in Python, with experience in ML libraries and frameworks such as scikit-learn, xgboost, and TensorFlow (desirable)
- Experience with data processing and manipulation, SQL-like languages, and ETL tools such as Airflow
- Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) and advanced proficiency in English
- Good software development practices including clean coding, writing tests, and using version control
- Familiarity with model deployment tools such as Docker
- Familiarity with ML system design, supervised and unsupervised learning, and deep learning
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated independence and ownership
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a diverse, cross-functional team
